Every year, in summer and to illuminate your evenings in July and August, the Office de Tourisme du Pays de Montmédy offers you tours by torchlight.

The tour starts at 21:00. During these night-time events, a guide in period costume will take you to discover a new route deep within the citadel. Places which are inaccessible to visitors during the usual hours (caverns, deep well,  etc.) will be revealed by the glow from flaming torches…

Events in the Pays de Montmédy

Every year in the middle of June, the Office du Tourisme Transfrontalier du Pays de Montmédy invites you to come and discover a musical show.  Every year, a new group will come to rock you in one of the citadel’s casemates.

In 2012, Montmédy had the good fortune to welcome a trio of female musicians and singers who offer, via their music, a discovery of some artefects from museums (Musée Jules-Bastien Lepage and museum of the fortress) and the Citadel. Their show is called “Emotions et Malice en Musée de Meuse”.

As the year 2013 has a renaissance feel to it, the Vendée troop “Outre Mesure” has made the trip. So the public has discovered a show called “Baliverneries Rabelaisiennes”. It’s all about a tale drawn from the life of “Pantagruel et Gargantua”; It was thus steeped in the universe of François Rabelais and his contemporaries but also uncovers some musical works typical of the Renaissance.
