On Sunday, 19 May 2013, the Château de Malbrouck at Manderen, a Moselle Passion site of the Conseil Général de la Moselle and the Château des Ducs de Lorraine, organised the 12th “Marche des seigneurs en terre mosellane” or “Parade of the Lords in the Land of the Moselle”.
This procession, which has now become a tradition, follows the ancient tracks which cut through the countryside of the Pays de Sierck and link the château de Malbrouck and that of the Dukes of Lorraine at Sierck-les-Bains, with medieval, craft and musical events arranged all along its path. This year, about a dozen events are on offer along the route and in the two castles, with classics such a the medieval horse troop “La Chevauchée”, but also lots of new ones. Every year, this walk brings lovers of nature and of heritage together. There are two routes on offer: 10 km or 20 km
Each year, nearly 5,000 visitors get to be brought right back to the Middle Ages.
The castle is transported back to its splendorous era of the court of the Dukes of Lorraine. Falconry shows, equestrian games, fighting knights, as well as sketches and paintings depict medieval life in the castle. This year, the focus will be on dance and medieval music: several sets of live music and medieval dance have been announced with the presentation of different exhibitions of medieval music instruments.
